About the event

Join us to welcome the politicians back to Parliament House for the first sitting of 2022.

Let's give Australia's political leaders a clear message that action on climate change is an election issue.

A flock of bright yellow Pikachus will be leading the welcome, along with lots of colourful flags and banners.

This is the time to remind our political leaders that Australia wants more action on climate change, and will be judging them in the upcoming federal election. The Pikachus are inspired by the Prime Minister's 'favourite climate change protestor', Frances, who has stood with placards on the road into Parliament House dressed in a Pikachu onesie on every sitting day since late 2019.

For more info or to see if there are any Pikachu costumes left, please email Jacqui on xr-act-northside@protonmail.com. Otherwise come along and bring a sign with your message, or pick up one of ours. When:…

Extinction Rebellion ACT acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which Canberra is situated, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. We wish to recognise and respect their continuing connection to the land and water, and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region. Their sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We would also like to acknowledge other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who may visit this area.
