About the event

You are invited to join the XR ACT contingent going to the SYDNEY FESTIVAL OF LOVE AND RAGE (Sat 19 December).

If you joined XR to be part of NON VIOLENT CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE -  here's your chance! All Canberra rebels invited, even if you haven't  participated before. Come and have a chat about what is involved, transport and meet some other people planning to go. Please RSVP so we know how many people are attending.

The  Festival of Love and Rage Sydney is part of a national mass mobilisation strategy. Australia has now heated by 1.44 degrees Celsius,  and it’s likely we’ve already got at least another 0.6 degrees locked in, even if we stopped all emissions today. THIS IS BEYOND AN EMERGENCY,  and yet we’re seeing a push for new gas projects, more coal and unrelenting deforestation. We need a rebellion. ACTION IS THE ANTIDOTE  TO DESPAIR!

A defiant, beautiful act of civil disobedience blocking the streets to demand climate action. Designed by all of us, our festival of rebellion will stop the city to celebrate the things we love about our beautiful world, and rage against the things that are actively destroying it.

Extinction Rebellion ACT acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which Canberra is situated, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. We wish to recognise and respect their continuing connection to the land and water, and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region. Their sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We would also like to acknowledge other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who may visit this area.
